Steve Stankovski, Coach and Certified Personal Trainer

Being an athlete since a young age, Steve always had something to work for; he had goals, a purpose. Upon graduating from St. John Fisher College with a degree in accounting, he had found it difficult to stay motivated. The structure was missing, as was the intensity. Then in 2010, he stumbled onto CrossFit. Steve had again found a purpose … to constantly strive to be better than before by utilizing the principals and fundamentals of CrossFit. Steve became Crossfit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) in March of 2012 to go along with his 10 years of experience as a NFPT Certified Personal Trainer. He is dedicated to bringing out his clients true potential and meeting their fitness goals. Steve loves applying what he knows and helping people realize how to get their first pull-up, handstand pushup, new front squat PR, or simply doing a workout as prescribed for the first time.

After graduating college, Steve soon knew that sitting at a desk would not be long term career for him. It was then that Steve realized his true calling of helping others. In 2010, he was accepted into the fire academy and has been a Firefighter for the City of Rochester for 4+ years. CrossFit easily helped Steve transition into the grueling and physical nature of the job. CrossFit has become an integral part of Steve’s life and he is eager show others what they can accomplish when they give CrossFit a chance.

April Johnson, Coach

April started Crossfit in May 2011 following several years of intensive therapy for injuries sustained in a high impact car accident. A long time distance cyclist and former high school cheerleader and tennis player, April was frustrated with inactivity and became convinced through a friend who had been doing Crossfit that the key to healing her body from the accident was to get active. Her introduction to Crossfit was very slow, but within 6 months she was training for sprint triathlons and back on her bike for the first time in two years. April became a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) in September 2012 because of a sincere desire to see others not only achieve their fitness goals, but to do so in a supportive, FUN environment!

April is from South Georgia, and lives on 38 acres in Ontario County. Today, Crossfit not only provides her with a way to advocate for others’ fitness through coaching, which is her true passion, but it also ensures she can function in the ways she enjoys most: raising chickens and livestock, sustaining a large garden, maintaining her land, tending to her bees, hauling sap for the annual maple syrup run, and any other task that comes her way. Crossfit has provided her with the functional fitness necessary to live the life she loves.
